Budgets are an important part of planning income and expenses for a business and QuickBooks Online has all the tools that you need.

The budgeting portion of QuickBooks online allows for creating a budget each for income and expenses. Here are some of the various options available:

  • Input income and expenses for each year.
  • Amounts for each income and expense account can be entered by month, quarter, or year.
  • Budgets can be set overall for the entire company or specific to a customer, sub-customer, or project.
  • Budgets can also be created by a class category.

After you create the budget and save it, the Budgets vs. Actual report will show the budgeted amounts compared to the actual figures. The report will also show the over or under for each line item as well as the percentages.
